Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The study abroad student assistant helps promote study abroad programs and on-campus international events to the GHC student body, conducts research for the Global Initiatives and Study Abroad program and performs other study abroad related duties as assigned by the Director of Global Initiatives and Study Abroad.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in advertising study abroad programs and on-campus international events to the GHC student body, including helping make and put up flyers, posters and other advertisements
• Speak with other students about study abroad programs, especially with presentations and in one on one
conversations at study abroad student recruiting events
• Help plan and conduct on-campus international events for the GHC student body
• Conduct research for the study abroad program on international companies and international related events in the northwest Georgia and Atlanta areas

Key Qualifications

• Current GHC Student
• Must Complete FAFSA to qualify for FWS (Federal Work Study Program)
• Must be Pell Grant eligible (FAFSA)
• Must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
• Must have an unmet need based on total cost of attendance of student
•Completion of ENGL 1101
•Experience sufficient to read and respond to faculty emails appropriately

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Education: High school diploma required
• Experience: Experience traveling abroad and dealing with other cultures strongly preferred
• Basic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and the ability to conduct research on the internet
• Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions
• Skill in oral and written communication

Salary $8.00 Hourly
