Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

Students will work at Pepperell Primary School as tutors in the areas of Math, Reading, and Spelling.

Georgia Highlands College offers excellent opportunities for students to grow their skills while furthering their education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work Study tutors will assist children in kindergarten through second grade in the development of literacy or math skills.
  • Work Study tutors will engage in academic activities with selected students either one-on-one or in small groups.
Key Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled at Georgia Highlands College
  • Must be Pell Grant eligible (FAFSA)
  • Must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • Must have an unmet need based on total cost of attendance of student
  • Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Must provide two letters of recommendation from Georgia Highlands faculty or staff or from former employers or teachers
  • Must possess or be able to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
  • Must be able to provide your own transportation to and from job site
  • Must desire to work with children
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Education – must have completed at least one semester and be in good academic standing at GHC
  • Accountability – takes responsibility for all work activities and personal actions
  • Interpersonal Skills – demonstrates an ability to work effectively with others and interacts well with other students and staff
  • Skill in oral and written communication – must be a clear communicator
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Must meet all Board of Regents academic requirements for Math, Reading, and English
Salary $ 10.00 per hour
