Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The FWS Student Assistant is responsible for working collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, Financial Aid and Advising.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Office of Admissions, Financial Aid and Advising with various tasks including but not limited to:
• Providing support for front desk operations and perform routine administrative duties as assigned
• Answering phones and provide basic information to guide students through the enrollment process
• Daily intake of GHC documents on campus and by mail
• Making copies of general correspondence, forms and documents used for enrollment purposes
• Directing students to appropriate office or services as required
• Use of the GHC411 Ticketing System to assist students
• Providing support for departmental and GHC events both on and off campus
• Other related duties as assigned

Assist with additional Recruitment efforts by:
• Providing support at Preview Day, Open House and other recruitment activities both on and off campus
• Contacting applicants regarding their application status by phone and email
• Serving as an official representative of GHC at events hosted by GHC, such as graduation, Presidential functions, board meetings, etc.
• Accompanying Admissions Recruiters to area high schools for recruitment
• Serving as a tour guide for prospective students and their families
• Sharing their college experience with the local school systems

Assist with additional Advising efforts by:
• Demonstrating SCOREcard and Course Offering to students
• Reviewing student’s SCOREcard for gaining general knowledge of requirements for degree completion
• Contacting students that need to come in for advising or schedule changes
• Providing support for New Student Orientations and help students select classes during registration

Key Qualifications

• Must be Pell Grant eligible (FAFSA)
• Must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
• Must have an unmet need based on total cost of attendance of student
• Must be current GHC Student
• Strong public speaking skills
• Attention to detail and dependability
• Must display good phone etiquette
• Should possess adequate customer service skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Organizational and computer skills
• Strong skills in oral and written communication
• Customer service skills
• Knowledge of University System and college policies and procedures

Salary $8.00/hour
