Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The student worker will assist the Laboratory Coordinator and/or Laboratory Technician with the preparation of the labs.

Key Responsibilities

• Straighten labs -AP I, AP II, General Bio., Zoology, & Micro.
• Keep the prep work area clean; wash dishes
• Assist with lab set ups and take downs
• Make solutions with Lab Technician
• Restock materials when low and assist with end of semester re-ordering
• Make copies of hand outs for labs
• Filing
• Upkeep of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
• Place materials in autoclave bags from micro
• Assist with check in and unpacking of shipments received
• Wash down models, shelves, and counters when needed
• Other duties as assigned by the Lab Coordinator/Lab Technician

Key Qualifications

• Current GHC Student
• Must Complete FAFSA to qualify for FWS (Federal Work Study Program)
• Must be Pell Grant eligible (FAFSA)
• Must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
• Must have an unmet need based on total cost of attendance of student
• Must be able to work at least 10-16 hours a week

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to follow OSHA and BOR guidelines for Laboratory Safety and Material Safety Data Compliance for chemical use
• Knowledge of University System and college policies and procedures
• Skill in oral and written communication
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction

Salary $8.00/hour
