Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

Selected candidates will tutor students at the Boys and Girls Clubs who require assistance in Literacy and Mathematics from Pre-K through Fifth grade. Tutors engage in academic activities with members either one-on-one or with small groups.

Key Responsibilities

Contributes to the planning and implementation of Club wide objectives and strategic plan by:
-Organizing and implementing a range of programs and services for club members
-Initiating new programs or activities with the approval of the Club Director
-Promoting and stimulating program participation
• Intentionally focuses on tutoring members that require assistance in literacy and mathematics
• Ensures quality improvement by monitoring program achievement against target goals recommending modifications that respond to member needs and interests
• Assists the Leadership in the overall daily operations of the club
• Completes tasks as assigned by Club Director

Key Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in Georgia Highlands College
• Must be Pell Grant eligible (FAFSA)
• Must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
• Must have an unmet need based on total cost of attendance of student
• Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
• Must pass a background check
• Must posses or be able to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia
• Must be able to provide your own transportation to and from the off-campus job site
• Must desire to work with children.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Education – must have completed at least one semester and be in good academic standing at GHC
• Accountability – takes responsibility for all work activities and personal actions
• Interpersonal Skills – demonstrates an ability to work effectively with others and interacts well with other students and staff
• Skill in oral and written communication – must be a clear communicator
• Experience working with children preferred
• Must meet all Board of Regents academic requirements for Math, Reading, and English

Salary $10.00/Hour
